At least ten scholarships (depending on the availability of funding) will be granted to PhD students and advanced master’s students to help them attend the conference.
For each scholarship recipient, the non-cash prize includes:
- one free student conference registration (including the conference dinner) and
- free accommodation for the duration of the conference at an accommodation establishment selected by the conference organizers.
- Certificate of Netnocon 2025 scholarship. Students will receive a certificate of their scholarship award at the conference.
Scholarship recipients will have to:
- cover their own travel-related costs and
- are responsible for acquiring all necessary travel documents.
Eligibility Criteria and Conditions
To be eligible for a NETNOCON 2025 scholarship, applicants must be
- Enrolled as a full- or part-time PhD or Master’s student at the time of application.
- The scholarship will ONLY be awarded in relation to NETNOCON 2025.
- The scholarship recipient must attend NETNOCON 2025 in person and present their research in the form of a 1-minute presentation.
- The scholarship is not transferable.
- The NETNOCON 2025 organisers are not liable for any loss, damage or injury that results directly or indirectly from a candidate taking part in any aspect of the conference.
- Previous scholarship recipients are eligible to apply but priority will be given to first-time applicants.
- Awardees must formally accept the scholarship before the indicated deadline to secure their spot at the conference.
Selection Criteria
The award will be made by a sub-committee of the conference program committee appointed by the conference co-chairs based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to Netnography:
- Candidates must demonstrate a strong connection between their research and netnography: showcasing how their study contributes to or advances understanding in this area.
- Creativity in Research:
- Emphasis on creative approaches to research, analysis, or presentation. Applicants who explore unconventional formats like poetry, videography, storytelling, or other artistic forms may stand out.
- Contribution to the Conference:
- Applicants should explain how their presence and participation will enrich the NETNOCON 2025 conference, particularly through their 1-minute presentation.
- Potential Impact:
- Candidates should articulate how attending the conference will benefit their academic or professional development and how they plan to use insights gained from the event.
- Financial Need:
- Although not always mandatory, some scholarships may take into account the candidate’s financial situation or ability to fund their attendance independently.
- Diversity and Inclusivity:
- Special consideration could be given to applicants from underrepresented groups or regions in the field of netnography to ensure diversity in perspectives.

To apply for a conference scholarship, students must complete a statement with the following information in PDF format and send it to the email address:

- Student Name
- Student Affiliation
- Study Program and Years of Study
- Research focus (max 200 words)
- Interest in Netnography (max 200 words)
- What you hope to achieve at the netnography conference (max 100 words)
- Proof of enrollment in a PhD or Master’s program must be attached to the application (e.g. confirmation letter from your institution).
Deadlines
- Submission deadline: December 15, 2024, 5pm UTC
- Notification of award: by January 5, 2025
- Formal acceptance of scholarship: by January 31, 2025
- Conference dates: May 28-30, 2025
