Netnocon 2027 is more than a conference. It is an opportunity to connect with fellow researchers, practitioners, students, and community members while experiencing some of the culture, history, and natural beauty of Western Sydney.
In addition to the main conference program (9-11 June 2027), delegates and their accompanying family members or friends are invited to participate in a range of optional Community Track activities and social events before, during, and after the conference. These events provide opportunities for networking, conversation, and exploration in a relaxed and welcoming environment, to provide you with an authentic Aussie experience.
Pre-Conference Community Track Activities

Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park
$85 per person
Experience some of Australia’s most iconic native wildlife on a special pre-conference excursion to Featherdale Sydney Wildlife Park in Western Sydney.

Parramatta History and Heritage Walking Tour
$10 per person
Explore one of Australia’s oldest and most historically significant cities on a guided walking tour through Parramatta, the heart of Western Sydney.
Located on the traditional Country of the Burramattagal people of the Dharug Nation, Parramatta has a rich history stretching back tens of thousands of years. The tour explores Indigenous connections to Country, the city’s colonial history, and its transformation into Sydney’s second central business district.
Along the way, participants will discover:
– Historic buildings and heritage landmarks
– Significant public spaces and cultural sites
– Stories that have shaped Parramatta’s past and present
– Insights into the city hosting Netnocon 2027
The tour provides a fascinating introduction to the local area while offering delegates an opportunity to engage with the history, culture, and character of Western Sydney.
Participants will depart from and return to Western Sydney University’s Parramatta City Campus (1PSQ).
Guided Tour of Powerhouse Parramatta
$20 per person
Discover Powerhouse Parramatta, Western Sydney’s landmark cultural institution located on the banks of the Parramatta River.
As part of the Netnocon 2027 pre-conference program, participants will enjoy a bespoke guided experience led by a Powerhouse Museum guide, exploring the stories, ideas, innovations, and communities represented across the museum’s exhibitions.
The tour includes:
– A guided visit to three current exhibitions
– Entry to one ticketed exhibition
– Insights from an expert museum guide
Following the tour, delegates may choose to stay and enjoy lunch at their own expense at one of Powerhouse Parramatta’s dining venues.

All Community Track activities and tours are optional and require separate registration. Places are limited and bookings will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Conference delegates are welcome to register accompanying family members and friends for these activities.
