NETNOCON24 – Looking toward the future (#LTF) – 29-31 May 2024
Embrace the limitless potential of nethnography and creativity. Together, let’s challenge the status quo and envision a world where imagination knows no bounds, as Albert Einstein said, ‘Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination embraces the entire world’. Mystics, mythic storytellers, business futurists, and, increasingly, technocultural scientists like netnographers, have mapped the trajectories that sweep us along into the future. The world facing researchers has changed as never before, putting more demands on us to keep up with the future’s requirements.
For 17 years, Milan was the home of history’s greatest futurist, Leonardo da Vinci. The conference paid tribute to him and to all futurists, past, present, and future. Drawing inspiration from this great artist’s hope for a future without cruelty, we followed Leonardo in holding Netnocon as a vegetarian conference, including vegan options, to help realize a less cruel footprint.
Netnocon24 brought together netnographers of all interests and experiences to collectively explore futuristic themes at the digital frontiers of science and cultural understanding. Netnocon24 continued the prior year’s emphasis on the field’s rising stars – as we looked to them to carry the torch – and invited all participants to further explore our collective future. With rapid changes taking place in technology and research, the conference focused on understanding the various ways our different visions of the future shape our collective present as much as it did on predicting how current trends will shape our tomorrows.
